What's NewWhat's New at Himmelfarb Library

New Operating hours
As of July 1st, 2022, the Himmelfarb library’s summertime hours will be 7:30am to Midnight weekdays, and 9am to Midnight weekends. Library hours for July 3rd are 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Library will be closed on July 4th. We plan to return to our 24/7 hour schedule on August 1, 2022.

Research Day/Research Showcase is Over, Now What?Research Day/Research Showcase is Over, Now What?

Research Showcase is an annual event where students from all over campus have the opportunity to share the results of their research with the rest of the GW community.  Medical Student Research Day is a similar annual event, specifically for medical students to share the results of their research.  To participate in either of these, students first submit an abstract describing their research and, if accepted, they will then present a poster describing their research in more detail.  This year, Research Showcase was a virtual event which ran from April 12th through April 14th, while Research Day was held in person at the University Student Center on April 28th.  The posters that were presented at these events highlighted the amazing breadth of research that is performed by students across campus!

Himmelfarb Library has recently added 27 video training modules to the Bates’ Visual Guide to Physical Examination® series entitled Communication and Interpersonal Skills that teach how best to interact with diverse populations. Whether your patient is a newborn, an adolescent, or in the later stages of life, this video series teaches the unique skills required to interact with each.

ILL: TouchNetInterlibrary Loan: TouchNet: What is it and how can I use it?

Have you ever received an invoice for your ILL requests? Receiving an invoice may be an uncommon occurrence for GW users, but in some circumstances, such as ordering a rush request (which incurs a $10 fee), or going over the Rule of 15 (which allows users to request 15 free articles in each half of the year before they start getting charged $10 per request), it is possible to accumulate a fee for ILL. We are excited to announce the implementation of TouchNet, a new platform that allows the electronic processing of payments for ILL invoices.
